Can I stay and watch my dog being groomed?
To groom your pets we need to use sharp tools on a moving animal. For the pets and our safety we need to have your dogs’ undivided attention.  You are welcome to tour the shop and ask questions before the appointment; however you will need to leave during the grooming process.

Why does my dog shake when we enter the salon?
It is normal for your dog to shake when coming into the grooming salon.  Dogs are sometimes like children being dropped off at daycare. They may put on a "show" for the parents but quickly settle in when the parent leaves. It is best to calmly hand the pet to the stylist and NOT make a big deal out of leaving them. The first step in a happy grooming experience is your arrival.  Be calm and confident when you walk in the door.  Great trainers will tell you, ‘tension travels down the leash.”  Even if your pet is nervous, if it sees and senses that you are not, it will start to feel much more comfortable about the whole process.Your pets’ safety and comfort are our main concern when grooming your pet.  Some of our favorite dogs to groom were once very reluctant to trust us and now happily come into the salon.

What can I do to help my pet enjoy the grooming process more?
Brush your pet at home. If you are willing to brush your pet at home, we will be happy to demonstrate proper tools and techniques to make it easier on both you and your pet.If you simply do not like to brush your pet we can discuss a bath and brush only between full grooming or choose a hairstyle that is shorter and easier to care for.

Do you sedate?
No

Will my pet be kept in a cage or kennel?
Pet safety is the most important aspect of caging pets while at the grooming shop.  Most pets relax and some even dose while they are waiting for their turn to be groomed.   It would not be safe to let dogs who do not know each other to be with other pets they aren’t familiar with.

Will a muzzle be used on my pet?
If a dog threatens to bite or seriously tries we will use a muzzle to protect the groomer. When the groom progresses to a point the dog is calm and relaxed again the muzzle will be removed.  (If you know that your pet has a fear of grooming or an issue with a particular procedure (for example hates its nails trimmed) please advise us at check in.)
